We hosted our inaugural Sub-Only Showcase at our 2019 Connecticut tournament and it was a huge success! 28 black belts stepped onto the mats for 14 exciting Gi and No-Gi matches, all while raising more than $12,000 as a group! On the heels of its success, we hosted 3 more in Chicago, Philadelphia, and Massachusetts raising another $35,000! More Showcases to come in 2020 so check back here for future dates!
We are excited to announce that we're hosting three more Sub-Only Showcases this year and are looking for competitors (black, brown, purple, and blue) to compete on our cards in Chicago (October 19th), Philadelphia (November 9th), and Massachusetts (November 23rd). All Showcases take place after the tournaments that day.
Gi matches will follow IBJJF rules (no points) and No-Gi matches will follow ADCC rules (all submissions legal), however slamming will not be allowed. Winners will receive a medal and trophy and our Top Showcase Fundraiser will be recognized at the start of the event!
The 2024 trip will take place from April 23 to April 27, 2025. Guests are welcome to come earlier/stay longer, for an additional fee not paid for by Tap Cancer Out.
1. REGISTER
Register for any of our 2024 Tap Cancer Out BJJ Open tournaments (or Global Grappling Day), set up your fundraising page, and go! You can even continue fundraising after your event has passed.
Start fundraising and get creative! Host a car wash, recycle cans, or just share a fundraising update every day on Instagram. Don't forget to customize your fundraising page and share how cancer has affected your life.
2. FUNDRAISE
Exceed $10,000 raised on your individual fundraising page by December 31st, 2024, and you're heading out on our Grappling Getaway in April 2025!
3. GET AWAY!
We've tried to anticipate all the questions you may have. If your question isn't answered here, please email us at fundraising@tapcancerout.org.
What if our Team has fundraised more than $10,000?
As is the case with all our perk levels, this perk is only rewarded on an individual fundraising basis. Thus, the individual competitor's fundraising page must exceed $10,000 raised. Team fundraising is of no consideration.
What if we have multiple fundraisers in our family that, when added together, exceed $10,000?
We often have families fundraise together (or on separate pages). We will honor a $10,000 perk earned by the combined fundraising efforts of a family. However, only immediate family members will be considered. That means only mom(s), dad(s), and siblings living in the same household. And only one perk is awarded (ex: 1 trip to BJJ in Paradise).
What if we exceed $20,000? Will we earn two trips?
As is the case with all our perk levels, a perk can only be earned once.
Do I have to compete at a tournament to fundraise?
NOPE! Anyone can set up a fundraising page and start fundraising on our behalf. You can even take part in Global Grappling Day and raise your funds for that "virtual" event. If you want to set up your own fundraising page NOT connected to an event, please head here and click on "Become a Fundraiser."

What if I fundraised for multiple events this year?
If you contact us to let us know that, collectively, you hit the $10,000 mark, then you have earned your spot in Florida!
If I win this trip, will I be taxed?
As with any promotional prize, you will be taxed on the price of the trip.
